In 2009 the village shop and Post Office (known as the The Personal Service Stores) was put on the market as the then owners wanted to retire. Unfortunately, they failed to find a buyer.

On 1 August 2011 the village shop, business and property, which had been run by Peter and Sue Knight for some 25 years, was purchased by the village as a Community. We signed a ‘Company’ contract with the Post Office Ltd which ensured a future for the hard-won facility.

Over the weekend before the opening day the village community pulled together to get the premises ready for it’s rebirth. This included the removal of the old deli counter through the shop window with a little help from a friendly farmer!

Then after a lot of hard work we opened as Our SHOP.
